Kalim Shah

Professor of energy and environmental policy at the University of Delaware.
Dr. Shah has over fifteen years of science and technology policy and institutional development experience working as an academic researcher in the fields of climate change, energy policy and environmental management, mostly in small island developing states and the Caribbean. Experience includes implementing national and regional projects on climate change mainstreaming, industrial policy evaluation and sustainability investments.
 
Presently, Kalim is a professor of energy and environmental policy at the University of Delaware. He has previously held faculty positions at Indiana University, York University in Canada and at the University of Trinidad and Tobago in his home country. As a recognized expert in his field, Dr. Shah has been engaged to advise multilateral clients including the World Bank, UNECLAC and UNDP, the Caribbean Tourism organization and several private sector groups. He recently served as Lead Policy Author for LAC to the UNEP Global Environmental Outlook Assessment Report.
 
Dr. Shah holds a Doctorate in Public Policy focused on environmental policy, from George Mason University and a Masters in Natural Resource Management focused on resource economics from the University of the West Indies Barbados. Since 2010 Kalim has been a top cited researcher on policy related to science and technology, climate change and environmental management in the Caribbean. Dr. Shah spent the best times of his life growing up in Trinidad & Tobago and continues to commit his time and efforts to the sustainable development of the LAC region.
