Shuan SadreGhazi

Researcher on Pro-Poor Innovation, Social Entrepreneurship and Inclusive Business at the United Nations University – Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT)
Shuan's academic interests lay primarily in innovation management in social enterprises and pro-poor initiatives, i.e how to make sure that a specific innovation gets accepted by the target beneficiaries, becomes inclusive and leads to sustainable positive impact among the community. For his research on innovations for low-income markets, Shuan has conducted extensive fieldworks in rural India, China, Maynmar and Iran.
He has worked with a number of enterprises on their inclusive business initiatives. With the UNDP Growing Inclusive Markets initiative, he was responsible for case studies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). As a visiting researcher at Tsinghua University's "Sustainable Innovation" group, he studied the approach of Chinese firms regarding innovation for low-income/rural markets. He is also a senior research advisor for Sasakwa Peace Foundation (Japan) on their “Base of the Pyramid” initiatives in South East Asia. Since 2015, he is advising National Elites Foundation (Iran) on setting up Rural Entrepreneurship initiatives.
Shuan conducted his doctoral studies at UNU-MERIT PhD program on Innovation Studies and Development. He holds an M.Sc. in Management and Economics of Innovation from Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) and received his B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering. He is based in Maastricht, The Netherlands.
